Friday with Governor Luther Hodges

Even before becoming president, Friday worked with Governor Luther Hodges to plan the Research Triangle Park. In 1958, the Research Triangle Institute became the park's first major tenant, conducting high-level scientific research with federal grants. Two major chemical companies also brought research facilities to the park during the 1950s.
