Paul Dickson, III, student body president, 1965-1966

Convinced the Speaker Ban Law violated academic freedom, Friday worked behind the scenes with student body president Paul Dickson to overturn the statute. Once Wilkinson and Aptheker had been banned from campus, Dickson took the matter to court. In 1968, a district judge ruled the law was unconstitutional because it failed to set clear definitions of unacceptable speakers.
