The most famous Jewish student of the 1950s was Lenny Rosenbluth, All-American basketball player and team captain in 1957 when the Tar Heels won their first NCAA basketball championship. A native of the Bronx, Rosenbluth led his team to a 32-0 season and to the defeat of Wilt Chamberlain’s Kansas team in the title game.
