First Black Morehead Scholar and UNC Rhodes Scholar

Karen Stevenson was the first black woman to be granted a Morehead Scholarship in 1975. She also won a Rhodes Scholarship in 1979, making her the first woman from the university and the first black woman in the nation to receive the honor.
