Growth of Student Organizations in the 2010s

In the 2010s, as the number of Asian American students at UNC continued to grow, there was a great expansion of Asian American student organizations. By 2016 there were more than 20 official students organizations focused on Asian American students and topics. These include Monsoon, the Mixed Asian Students' Heritage Club (MASH), Phi Alpha Phi, Lambda Phi Epsilon, and Delta Sigma Iota fraternities, Delta Phi Omega Sorority, a capella group Samaa, and the Asian American Law Students Association.

In 2011, UNC students helped to found the Triangle-Area Asian American Student Conference (TAASCON), an annual event that brings together students from UNC, Duke, and North Carolina State University.
