University Lake

University Lake, a 213-acre lake in Carrboro, lies at the convergence of five creeks: Morgan Creek, Phil's Creek, Neville Creek, Price Creek, and Pritchard's Mill Creek. The lake was formed in 1932 after the construction of a university-commissioned dam. The lake, built as a water source for Chapel Hill, holds six hundred million gallons of water. This water was originally piped to a campus filtration plant, but today it is processed at a plant on Jones Ferry Road. UNC's NCAA women's rowing team and crew clubs train on University Lake.
