Kappa Alpha students in Raleigh ceremonies

Even though the integration of Chapel Hill did not incite violence or riots, the traditions of the past were strong, and there was open veneration of the Confederacy. Every year the Kappa Alpha fraternity held ceremonies on campus in Confederate military uniforms. It held another annual ceremony at the Confederate monument on the capitol grounds in Raleigh, followed by an evening ball.
