The Carolina Hispanic Association (CHispA) was founded in the fall of 1990 by Colombian student Catherine Lindsay. In the organization's weekly meetings, guest speakers often come to discuss topics concerning the Hispanic community including the rights of farmworkers, the Hispanic-American experience, and the DREAM Act. Today, CHispA has many subgroups, including a contemporary Latin dance team (Que Rico), an a cappella group (Canto Libre), and a group that offers free Salsa dance classes (Salsa Sentido).
