Collaborative Collage

In 2000, alumna Julie Dougherty, then a Teaching Assistant Fellow in the art department, created this sculpture in collaboration with her casting class. Students and teacher created individual cast iron squares based on forms found in nature. The squares were then arranged in a grid and mounted in an oxidized iron frame. The exterior wall-mounted piece welcomes visitors to the east entrance of Hanes Art Center.
