Four paintings by Nan Kirby Gressman, the wife of School of Law professor emeritus Eugene Gressman, were already on loan to the School of Law when she passed away in 2004. As a memorial gift to the University, Professor Gressman permanently donated those four, located on the fifth floor, along with 16 additional paintings, which are now on permanent display circling the mezzanine of the School of Law rotunda. The vibrant colors and angular forms of her circular paintings reflect the complex geometries of the rotunda architecture, while the gradated blends of her rectangular canvases complement the sunlight that shines through the cantilevered skylight windows. Nan Kirby Gressman studied with the artists of the Washington Color School and painted professionally for more than 50 years.
